The Overdose Response Team has been working hard to help impact the current Opioid Epidemic, affecting our City of Newark. Through Data Analysis, Co-Response to Overdose incidents with University Hospital, meaningful outreach, engagement, harm reduction supply distribution, Community Narcan education, and care coordination- we have been able to positively change lives. We’ve learned, through meaningful engagement, change begins with us. Based on our ongoing analysis, the Lincoln Park area has been identified as a “high-vulnerability” zone for preventable overdoses and needed services for people who use drugs.
One of the only spaces where three wards (South, Central, and East) converge, our goal is to galvanize community leaders and service partners, including those within the Lincoln Park area, and directly engage individuals, who may be interested in receiving assistance and resources. Resource tables would be stationed on the Integrity House side of Lincoln Park (MAT services, Narcan information, temporary housing, health care, mental health awareness, clinics, food, clothing, etc.). We would also like to include the availability of Mobile Health Units, to help increase direct service needs.
