Trauma Recovery Center (TRC) is a nationally acclaimed model that It is designed to help victims of violent crime overcome barriers to accessing mental health treatment, health care, and legal resources in the acute aftermath of trauma. The TRC provides free mental health services to survivors, 10 and older, of violent crime, including survivors of physical assault, sexual assault, gunshot wounds, stabbings, domestic violence, and human trafficking to residents of Essex and Hudson county.
The TRC has created a safe space in our community for crime survivors to receive mental health treatment, advocacy, and victim services. There are numerous crime survivors who are uncomfortable engaging with law enforcement or medical institutions that they will not seek assistance from these traditional institutions. However, crime survivors need– and are entitled to — fundamental assistance. Given our history as a strong community-based organization, NCST is uniquely positioned to navigate the nuances of service delivery to a population that has been or currently overlooked and underserved by traditional institutional agencies.
